Question: What is Skilled Nursing/Rehabilitation?
- According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS):
- Skilled care is health care given when you need skilled nursing or rehabilitation staff to manage, observe, and evaluate your care. Examples of skilled care include intravenous injections and physical therapy. Medicare will only cover skilled care when you meet certain conditions
Question: When and how long will Medicare cover Skilled Nursing Services/Rehabilitation?
- Certain criteria have to be met before Medicare will cover under the Skilled Nursing Benefit...
- You have a qualifying inpatient (not observation status) hospital stay of three (3) consecutive midnights
- The skilled care is reasonable and necessary for diagnosing and treating your condition
- You receive these services at a Skilled Nursing Facility certified by Medicare
- If you meet the above criteria, you may qualify for up to 100 days of Skilled Nursing Services

All of the above work closely together to develop a health care and lifestyle plan tailored for each resident. Physicians from within our community are here to serve your loved one and are closely involved in coordinating care and communicating back to residents and their families. Wesleyan’s medical director has an office on-site which has been extremely convenient for our residents, their families and our staff. And for those patients with Scott & White Insurance, The Wesleyan at Scenic is a network provider for the Scott & White Health Plan.
Our short term rehabilitation services provide a comfortable, well equipped and stimulating place to receive the rehabilitative therapies you need following a hospitalization. From our 2100 square foot rehabilitation gym, staffed by on-site Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapists, to the skilled nursing care services, patients can be confident that our rehabilitation professionals will promote a caring environment. The Wesleyan at Scenic Rehabilitation Center is among the finest facilities in the region to offer progressive specialty rehab services. Between therapy sessions and nursing care, patients have the option to participate in diverse activities programming held each of the seven (7) days a week and will enjoy delicious meals in our beautiful and spacious dining room. Many spiritual, social and educational opportunities are offered as well.
